The CX1500-M520 DeviceNet fieldbus master enables distributed collection of data and signal processing, even for remote machines or devices. The use of fieldbus master modules in the CX10x0 system allows the use of all Beckhoff fieldbus components (e.g. Bus Coupler, Bus Terminal Controller, Drive Technology) as components Distributed control for assembling complex systems. Parallel operation of several identical or different master connections is also possible, for example, two DeviceNet servers or a DeviceNet server and a CANopen server can exist simultaneously in the same system.
Mixed operation of master and slave connections is also possible. Therefore, the CX system can take on the function of a smart gateway between different fieldbuses. The performance data of the CX fieldbus main modules is nearly identical to that of the Beckhoff PC Fieldbus Card, except for the fact that the CX variants are always single channel type. The number of slaves that can be connected is limited to 63 units. The use of master or slave connections allows the networking of several CX systems to each other via the fieldbus level. In contrast to networking via Ethernet , strictly deterministic data transmission can be achieved in this case.
The CX fieldbus module can be upgraded or exchanged in the field and can be connected to an existing CX system via the PC/104 system bus. Software integration of fieldbus connections into TwinCAT is performed by the TwinCAT System Manager.
